Method and limits

Non-refundable stay spending = nightly room rate × nights + one-time pet fee + nightly pet fee × nights + other entered non-refundable charges and taxes. Refundable deposit is shown separately and excluded from spending. Cash required if the full deposit is collected = non-refundable spending + refundable deposit. Differences compare only entered arithmetic. Blank optional charges count as $0, so totals can be incomplete; confirm taxes, deposit return conditions, quote validity, and restrictions with each hotel.

How does the hotel fee comparison work?

For each hotel, it calculates nightly room rate times nights, plus the entered one-time pet fee, nightly pet fee times nights, and other entered non-refundable charges or taxes. It reports a refundable deposit separately and does not count it as spending.

Does a pet-friendly listing mean my pet is eligible?

No. AVMA advises travelers to check directly whether pets are welcome and to confirm restrictions such as breed, size, and paperwork. Contact the hotel about your specific pet, dates, room, and current policy.

Is the refundable deposit part of the trip cost?

The tool excludes the deposit from modeled non-refundable spending and separately shows cash required if the full deposit is collected. Return timing and conditions depend on the hotel's current terms.
