Compare microchip service and registry quotes
Organize written microchip implantation, clinic visit, and registry fee quotes separately. Compare visitor-entered amounts without assuming registration is included or recommending a provider.
Compare current written microchip service quotes from clinics or providers. Record the quoted implantation/service amount, confirmed required clinic charges, and registry fees in separate fields. An implanting visit and a registry service are different parts of the process; a quote for one does not confirm that the other is included. This worksheet does not verify a chip, register a pet, or recommend a provider.

2 quotes listed (maximum 4).
Enter at least two written quotes. Blank fee fields are not verified as free or included.
Questions to ask before comparing
- Does this quote cover the implanting service, a separate exam or visit, registry enrollment, or only some of these?
- What exact chip type or product is quoted, and which registry or registries can hold the registration?
- Is registration completed by the clinic, the owner, or another party? What confirmation will show that it is done?
- Does the registry charge a one-time or recurring fee, and what are its current terms for updates or additional contacts?
- What dates, conditions, taxes, or other confirmed charges could change the written amount?
Use the microchip registration checklist to find a registry and verify a record. AAHA’s lookup identifies participating registry contacts; AAHA does not operate those registries or complete registration for you.
Method, source, and limits
For each quote, the one-time entered subtotal is implantation/service amount + other confirmed clinic or visit charges + one-time registry enrollment fee. A recurring registry fee is shown separately and is not multiplied or added to the one-time subtotal because its billing period and terms vary. Blank fields count as zero for arithmetic only and do not mean a charge is absent or included. Differences are arithmetic against the first quote. This worksheet does not establish that chips, services, registry terms, or provider quotes are equivalent; it supplies no typical price and does not guarantee that a chip is registered or will lead to recovery.
- AAHA: Microchip Registry Lookup Tool — explains how to use the lookup to identify participating registry contacts and distinguishes lookup from registration or account updates. Verify fees and registration directly with the registry.
- Microchipping cost comparison results and microchip price guide result — directional examples of the query class, not price sources or verification of a local quote.
Reviewed November 3, 2026. Use current written quotes and confirm the service, registration responsibility, and registry terms directly with the clinic and registry. This tool provides arithmetic and recordkeeping only; it is not veterinary advice.

How it works
Enter current written clinic or provider quotes. The one-time subtotal adds the entered implantation/service amount, other confirmed clinic charges, and one-time registry fee; recurring registry fees stay separate with their stated terms. Blank fees count as zero only for arithmetic and are not verified as absent.
Good to know
Does a microchip implantation quote include registry enrollment?
That depends on the written offer. Ask the clinic and registry who completes enrollment, whether a separate fee applies, and how you will confirm the record is active. AAHA's lookup identifies participating registry contacts but does not register or update a pet.
How does the worksheet compare quotes?
It adds the entered implantation/service amount, other confirmed clinic or visit charges, and one-time registry enrollment fee. Any recurring registry fee and its period are displayed separately, not added to the one-time subtotal.
Does the lowest subtotal mean a provider or registry is best?
No. The worksheet compares visitor-entered arithmetic only; it does not assess chip or service equivalence, registry terms, provider quality, or recovery outcomes.
